Hold your next event in
a beautiful contemporary art space.

Located centrally on downtown Livingston’s Main Street, the Danforth Museum of Art enjoys abundant natural lighting in a contemporary arts setting. The DMA is ideal for meetings and classes, small gatherings, open house style parties, private dinners or a small wedding ceremony and reception. We can seat theater-style approximately 50-60 people, and the space can accommodate up to 40 people for an event with tables and chairs. A prep area is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, and commercial kitchen sink.

Arrangements for furnishings as well as flatware, drinkware and silverware must be made separately. (We can provide a list of event suppliers). The caterer must be approved by the Executive Director (or designee) and meet with staff at least 10 days before the event to ensure that all museum policies are adhered to.

The Finer Points
Space rental at the Danforth Museum of Art is available on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the year. Events deemed inappropriate by the Executive Director or Board of Directors are not permitted at the DMA. Our facilities are small and intimate and will accommodate smaller gatherings. In most cases, if your event requires space for more than 60, the DMA may not be the best venue for your event. The DMA reserves the right to review and accept/deny all proposed events and an event planning meeting with the Executive Director (or designee) is required before rentals will be approved.

You are asked to use an outside professional caterer for events with a full meal service. In the case of small parties or receptions, the DMA will consider allowing the event to be self-catered but will make that determination at the time of event planning. Food preparation should primarily be done off-site or in the caterer’s food service vehicle, using our prep area for reheating, refrigeration, plating, presentation and clean-up. At any time, the DMA reserves the right to request menu alterations, if needed, in order to ensure the safety of the collections. All menu and event plans must be reviewed and approved by the Executive Director (or designee) at the time of rental.
